Jackson Potter Puts On A Performance At Showcase Academy(Prospect Watch @Seismic_Sports)
At the Showcase Football Elite Academy this past weekend, the turnout was a success. Families flocked in support of their elite athletes while the players had their game faces on ready to compete.
The top athletes from across the state and beyond including Ohio, Texas and Louisiana came to Showcase their skills and compete against the best talent California has to offer.
Notable standouts had big time performances, catching the attention of our analysts. Santa Margarita (CA) ‘23 QB Jackson Potter and Apple Valley (CA) ‘22 QB Jayden Denegal were two of the elite players we want to highlight at Seismic.
Jackson Potter, Santa Margarita Quarterback (2023)
Jackson Potter showed up and showed out Sunday morning at the Showcase Football Elite Academy. Potter’s lean 6’4 wiry frame has added good weight and increased muscle mass.
The recent transfer from JSerra, impressed many with his natural stroke. He pushed the ball downfield with ease to all three levels. Potter showed great anticipation and accuracy in the “half skele” period of the event.
Potter has the arm talent to throw the ball off multiple platforms, drive the ball into deep holes in the zone and place it on the correct shoulder to increase the chances of running after the catch. Potter also showed off great touch on his deep ball.
He has the ability to also place the ball over the appropriate shoulder versus tight man to man coverage. His decision making and accuracy are big positives for the young prospect and is no doubt a Power 5 recruit.
Potter is also much more athletic than given credit for. He showed impressive athleticism in the agility period. The added muscle in his lower half has increased his explosiveness and balance when changing direction. Potter’s intangibles were on display as well.
He’s coachable, hungry, humble, with a strong cerebral component to his game. Potter projects to be a top five quarterback in his class. He has a massive ceiling with projectable tools to the next level and the next —next level.
Jayden Denegal, Apple Valley High School (2022)
Jaden Denegal, of Apple Valley High School, stands 6’4 and 220 pounds. He was another quarterback who wowed with big time tools and a live arm. His accuracy and ability to make quick decisions while rolling left, right, and climbing the pocket, showcases his unique abilities from the Quarterback position. Denegal is very athletic and agile for his size and uses that to put relentless pressure on the defense.
Denagaul has good body control, great balance, and improving footwork making him a must follow talent. He’s smart, reads the files well and processes information efficiently. Add those qualities with his physical traits and you’re looking at a difference maker if he continues to improve.
Denegal’s command is another major asset. He’s always under control and setting the tempo for his team. We expect a huge senior year coming in the fall for Denegal.
That should propel him to becoming a top 10 nationally ranked quarterback for the 2022 class. His finesse touch, size, athletic ability and power arm puts him up there with the best.
Denegal likes Utah and Michigan State amongst others and plans on visiting schools this June.
